Win For Elizabeth!

Improve, thinking on your feet, witty, sarcastic, rude... I don't care what you call it we've all had those amazing one liners that you came up with quickly as come backs. Today mine is worth sharing. After kettlebells my mother texted me asking me to pick up some ice cream on my way home. I stopped at the store and because I drive a bigger truck I parked in the back. It was a well lit parking lot and there were plenty of people coming in and out I didn't feel unsafe or anything so I continued on my mission for ice cream. Coming out of the store I looked around. There was me, an elderly man and a very large group of teenage boys walking my direction. I got out my keys and headed straight towards my truck. The large group of boys kept walking towards me and now I could hear what they were saying. They were making comments back and forth about me, and how hot I was... all while I was thinking of ways to kick their asses should anything go wrong. Just as I was opening my door one of the boys got a little closer, not close enough for me to feel threatened, just close enough for it to be creepy, and he said directed at me "why don't you come and get some." Right then I responded "you wish." with a tiny bit of well must I say B*!%^yness to it. I then proceeded to get in my car and drive away smirking as they all stood there in the middle of the parking lot with their jaws on the ground. And that my friends is Elizabeth's win for the night. :) So what is the lesson of this story?
To always have your snarky one liners ready... you'll never know when you may need them.

Keep your head up and your comebacks ready,

Keeping My Happy Face On

I haven't posted in a while. Life has simply gotten away from me. In a matter of weeks I got my license, got a job, finish my second year of high school, got a boyfriend, and started being completely independent. I always knew that turning 16 would be a major turning point in my life. I just knew it, before that day I felt trapped, not in a bad way, but just trapped in a world where my world had to coinside with everyone else's. I couldn't do something if I couldn't find a ride, I couldn't eat somewhere if I couldn't find a ride or someone who would pay for me.. things like that. But now, I can do what ever I want, to an extent and I just feel free. I've let go of those strings that were attached to me and I've officially become my own person.
And I'm not going to lie to you... This new found freedom has been AMAZING!! But, lately I've noticed that it's been taking it's toll. I've noticed that the emotional side has been weighing down on me, and the physical/medical side of it all has been making it's self known as well. And well, I've just been coping. I haven't been conquering, or fighting, or even trying, I've just been riding it. Sure I've come to terms with the fact that testing my blood sugar is no option and my boyfriend has been fine with that. It's just he's never seen  a sever moment where I can not physically handle things on my own, and I fear that if that does happen he won't know what to do because he just doesn't know. And I don't want to educate him or even bring it up because well it's still awkward. I don't want to HAVE to talk about it. But I know I HAVE to because my episodes lately are speratic with no pattern, and they've been bad.. like grey blurry vision, no freaking clue where I am, what I'm doing, or where I'm going, and dizziness like you can't imagine. And every time like clock work I test and I'm still hovering in the 120's-130's or every once and a while the 30's and 40's. I just don't understand it!!
It's like that elephant that sits in the middle of the room, except in my case it's that creepy monster.. (I have no pictures of me with elephants. Stick with me..) I feel like I'm slowly loosing hope. That there's nothing left to fight for, except for the fact that I have EVERYTHING left to fight for. So what do I do? To educate or not to educate? Tis is the question. And if I do, what do I say? Uhg... this is soo difficult.

For now I think I'll just keep my happy face on and keep riding it through.

Keep your head up and your happy face on,
Ellie <3

I Got Yo Back

Everyday, unless I stay after, like clock work I get off the bus at the bus stop and begin my journey home. And everyday like clock work our same UPS man is making his daily rounds through our neighborhood delivering packages and what not. And almost once a week he delivers something to my house and every time, I'm the one that signs for it.
It all started a while ago, we would cross paths at intersections and what not and we were always friendly with a wave and a smile, but he would always keep driving his route. Day in and day out this was our routine, and somehow it just sorta kept happening exactly this way. One day I was walking home on a low and was drinking my juice box and keeping to myself, and like every other day I could hear his truck coming down the street and turned around to wave at him. Except this time I lost my balance because I was dizzy, I quickly regained my footing, but didn't slip the awkward gaze that he gave me today as he drove by. 45 minutes later I was back in range and heard him pulling up to our driveway. I raced out to grab what ever he was delivering this time. Normally we'd say hello I'd sign and then we'd part our ways. This time we sung a different tune.
"Hey are you okay? I saw you almost fell walking home." He said handing over the package.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I've always been the clumsy one in the family." I answered as I scribbled my messy signature across his little tablet with one hand.
"You were also carrying a juice box. You like being a little kid again?" He asked half joking. This caught me off guard. He was either being a stalker and watching my every move, or he was genuinely concerned.
"No I actually have hypoglycemia, my blood sugar was low and I was trying to boost it. That's also kinda why I fell." This caught him off guard.
"I always knew there was something off with you. I've seen you wobbling home before, I try to make sure you get home safely when I ever I see you like that. Don't think I'm being a stalker or anything. Don't worry. I got your back." That's all he said before he disembarked for the next half of his trip. Their truly are people who watch out for me when I'm walking home. Yes, it was a little bit of an awkward conversation, but I've gotten to know him more and more as he delivered more packages. So Joe, if you're reading this, Thanks for having my back it's nice to know you're watching out for me, and not in a creepy way.

Keep your head up and keep educating,
Ellie <3

Unicorns, Shady People In Wyoming, and Who Knows What Else

I have made yet another vlog, and before you watch it I feel you should know/ be aware of a few things.
  • I had absolutely NO voice 3 hours prior to recording this, thus the sicky sound.
  • I have so much hairspray in my hair I could keep a grandma's dentures in her mouth and there are still a bunch of ugly fly aways.
  • I am very awkward on camera and I swear I'm not that awkward in real person so no need to fret.
  • Is fret a word?
  • And from watching this video you would think I have ADHD or something, I swear to you I don't. I'm just a quick topic jumper so sorry if it's hard to keep up.
  • Lastly, I'm sorry if I offend you with my old person line. It's totally true though.
  • With all that said, here you go!

Keep your head up and your unicorns close,
Ellie <3

Conversations That I Ponder LOONG After They're Over

I'm really stupid. I just am. Sometimes my conversations with people are so random or stupid or to any other normal person they would just seem off the wall, that some of them leave me thinking. And I've decided I'm going to share some of those conversations with you and maybe we can ponder them together?

Today In chem:
Me:what did we do yesterday??
Her: Weren't you here yesterday?
Me:Physically yes... mentally no.

-Random yes. Insane yes. True? Yes.

Today with my designated if I fall on the floor you're the only one besides the nurse who knows how to properly save me person: (on the football field during the hard lock down drill)
Her: Where is your emergency bag? Aren't you supposed to have it on you during these types of things?
Me: At home on my bed.
Her: Don't you to ALWAYS bring it.
Me: Yes.
Her: So why isn't it here?
Me: Because it was tired and needed to sleep in thus making it late for school and then it just didn't have a ride so it stayed home.
Her: You're stupid. But I love you... so don't die.
Me: Got it.

-true story.

Yesterday while while correcting a low with gummy bears:
Her: You're not supposed to be eating that.
Me: And you're not supposed to be annoying and yet, here you are (I'm grouchy when I'm low)
Her: I think I should take that from you.
Me: And right now I think you should shove it... (I was called away from the conversation probably for the better too.)

-true? Yes. Would I have finished my sentence? The world may never know...

Keep your head up and your conversations level headed,
Ellie <3

The Story Of My Life

This is me when I was just a wii tot 15 years ago, chilling out with my aunt in my Grandparent's back yard.
This is me now. Almost 16, almost driving, and still alive.

This is me acting like I'm working. Yes, I slack off like any other 15 year old too.
This is me chillin with my homies and my brother in very very cold weather.

You know everyone hangs out on a horse swing. No? That's just me??

I got really really dizzy...

This is me being a fun entergetic person with out a care in the world with people I love.
I didn't show you my life story because I wanted your sympathy or I just wanted to show you how aweosme I am. I wanted to show you so you understand if you don't go through this and to give hope if you are. You're as beautiful as anyone else if you have hypoglycemia you're as entergetic as anyone else even if you have to test your blood sugar and your just as cool if you have to drink a juice box in the middle of math (maybe even cooler.) You're you don't let anyone take that away from you. And for your nightly laugh: this totally describes me.

Keep your head up and stay you,

When We Stand Together

Music. It's what calms me, it keeps me sane, awake, alive, myself, it's what keeps me... well me. When I'm driving I get frazzled really easily and start yelling at the other drivers (I know bad habit) But if I turn the music on it calms me down and keeps me level headed. Don't ask me why it just does. I have a new found love for this song by Nickelback. I've never really been a fan of their music, but for some reason this song speaks to me. I know it sounds crazy, but it's true. It's called When We Stand Together. Here it is...

Keep your head up and stand together,

My Story

A few things you should know...
  • the camera was sitting on top of a klenex box on top of a stool on top of my bed, that's why it shakes every time I move... sorry.
  • It took 10 takes to get the index card part right.
  • I did stop shooting the video mid-way to correct the low. Now you know I'm seriously not lying when I say I feel absolutely nothing.
  • And on the last index card I forgot the s in thanks. As much as I would love to blame the low I can't, I mearly just can't spell.
So with out further ado this is my story.

Keep your head up and your camera steady,
Ellie <3

I'm sueing for false advertising...

Everything DOES NOT come naturally!!  Managing blood sugars purely on diet and numbers that may or may not be accurate does not come naturally. You can practice and practice and practice and it will never get perfect. Two weeks without having to go to the nurse, sure I had lows but they were the type I could handle without worrying about passing out or going into a state where I wouldn't be able to help myself. I was excited as I made my way through my day because I hadn't gone low. I got a 62 during guard and those are the ones that scare me because they can't for the life of them figure out that I just need to eat. So I went to the nurse 15 mins later I came back. I don't ask for special treatment and I don't ask to go to the health office unless I feel I NEED to. So when I came back and picked up the conversation where I left off and jumped back into the days activities people were surprised. They said I make it look so easy so natural. Yes, it's second nature now, yes it's part of my routine now, but that in no way, shape, or form does that mean it comes naturally. That's what bugs me the parts that people don't see and assume they know. They don't see how boring the health office is when you're there that often. Sure I get to use my phone and my Ipod, but that's only cuz it's like sitting in a freaking doctors office. So I've decided to sue myself for false advertising. For making it look like I have it all under control when I don't. When people say I wish I could leave class when ever I want, I want to slap them across the face and be like NO YOU DON'T. I blame myself and for lacking on the whole education part of everything. Happy Tuesday guys.

Keep your heads up and keep educating,
Ellie <3

My brother, best friend, and I also attended the Nevada Wild Fest. The procedes went to the Lili Claire Foundation, a foundation very close to my heart. We had an amazing time and came home with some amazing memories!

She had her eyes closed. ;)

My bro isn't the biggest Ferris Wheel fan :)

This was her very first Ferris Wheel ride. She was a little nervous and held onto the pole for dear life.

TODAY IS ALSO TUESDAY!! Which means there are only 2 and 1/2 days left til the weekend!! WHOO!!!

Keep your head up and your hands and feet inside the vehicle at all timez,
